Butterbear will always be my first child. #dogmom

Hi there! I’m A, and this is my attempt at blogging about my experience as a first-time mom in NYC. As a lifelong motherhood skeptic, I’ve basically avoided contact with children at all costs up until the point that my husband and I decided to have one of our own (at my ripe old age of 33!). To this day, I still freak out at the sight of any doggo on the street, but have absolutely no emotional response to babies … that probably bodes well for my future parenting, right?

Let’s just say the learning curve for me to become a mother has been steep. I’ve always been very career-focused and becoming a mother always seemed to run directly in opposition to my goals. I found out I was pregnant at the end of 2017 around the same time I went through the most traumatic work experience of my life. I like to think that maybe it was the universe’s way of telling me it was time for a change. I started this blog to document my transition from leaning out of the traditional workplace and leaning into motherhood, at least for a little while.

I’m proud to share my experiences and misadventures with you lovely strangers on the interwebs, so hope you enjoy reading!
